Love of Eating

In the beginning, we were all just a kid with a cookie.

Right after a nap while his young brain is still fuzzy, he bites into the chewy, crunchy round while sitting on the kitchen counter.

He doesn’t think about the juxtaposition of flavors, or the mouth-feel and textural elements contained within. He doesn’t expound about the cost, cavities, obesity rates or type of flour. He has no comment about what would make this cookie better or how cookies should be cooked or how traditional the recipe was or who makes a better cookie. He only eats, enjoys and has fun.

After all, it’s just a boy after a nap, on a counter, in love with a cookie.
